Ben plays his instrument in unconventional ways, using loops, extended techniques and a bit of imagination to underpin his original songs that include stories of his home in Kentucky, arson at the Globe Theatre, and his own retelling well-known folk ballads. At home, he often uses his bicycle to tour, travel, and take notice. At Port Fairy he performed solo, commanding the stage with just his voice, cello, and an anecdote or two.
