Seventy-five songs are officially in contention for nominations in the Original Song category for the 85th Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced recently, and among them GLEN HANSARD who composed a song titled The Gift for the new Disney flick “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” starring Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton.

Glen Hansard and co-writer Marketa Irglova won the Academy Award for Best Song at the 80th Academy Awards in 2007. The soundtrack ONCE was nominated as a whole, and The Los Angeles Film Critics Award for Best Music, and the soundtrack was nominated for two Grammy Awards.

ONCE was nominated for eleven and won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical earlier this year. 

Glen is no stranger to the small screen either, recently appearing as himself in the NBC drama Parenthood, performing his latest single High Hope. 

Glen Hansard will tour Australia and New Zealand for the 5th time in March 2013 with his band The Frames.
