HER SECOND NOD COMES FOR ‘LET IT BURN’

RUTHIE FOSTER’S latest album is “a captivating blend of soul, blues, gospel, New Orleans funk, folk, rock and R&B” according to the Los Angeles Times– and the Recording Academy members agree, nominating ‘LET IT BURN’ (Blue Corn Music) for a GRAMMY for Best Blues Album. Awards will be handed out at the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 10, 2013.

Dubbed “utterly timeless” by Allmusic and “an unexpected gem” by Yahoo! Music, ‘LET IT BURN’ was another step in the development of a great artist. Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer John Chelew, ‘LET IT BURN’ features a smoky mix of original songs along with inventive interpretations of an unexpected collection of covers ranging from Adele to Los Lobos, and from The Black Keys to Johnny Cash. Also on board as special guests are gospel legends The Blind Boys of Alabama and Stax Records soul man William Bell.

Those who have followed RUTHIE FOSTER’S eclectic musical history know that she can burn down any stage with her combustible blend of soul, blues, rock, folk and gospel. Ruthie’s astonishing voice has taken her on an amazing ride. She came from humble church choir beginnings in rural Texas, followed by a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy Band, and ended up in New York City with a major-label development deal that went sour.Ruthie’s list of achievements include Best Folk Artist in 2004-05 and Best Female Vocalist in 2007-08 from the Austin Music Awards, a 2009Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album, and recent back to back Blues Music Award wins for Best Contemporary and Best Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year.
