What a treat, last night Glen Hansard performed his new track ‘This Gift’ on the Late Show with David Letterman – The track features in the new Peter Hedges’ film The Odd Life of Timothy Green. In addition to a 4-piece backing band, Hansard shared the Ed Sullivan Theater stage tonight with the Brooklyn Youth Choir for a rousing take on the album’s deluxe-edition bonus track “This Gift.” It was one of the more memorable (and uplifting) late-night performances of the year so far, and even arrived with a few laughs as well, in which Late Show host David Letterman riffed on the massive hole in Hansard’s acoustic guitar. “People shooting at you, huh?” he joked at the gash on one of the great beat-up guitars of all time
